Hey guys I am Tarah Mikacich Cobe Mikacich and we are here at Freedom Wakepark to do a series of instructional videos for our friends over at Monster Tower. For those of you who are new to boating we are going to start out with how to get up on a wake board.

Cobe: So, while learning to get up on a wake board it’s always good to go over the motions on the dock, so I am going to act as the boat and Tara is going to act as the rider and we are just going to go through the steps.

Tarah: There are a few things that you always want to keep in mind and that’s that your arms are straight, your knees are bent, and it’s the boats job to do the work, so when the boat starts pulling you’re going to just let it like compress you as much as possible and just be really patient and then as it keeps pulling you’ll slowly roll over your feet and then rise up with your legs, it’s not really important which leg you try to put in front usually your dominant one will kind of take over and the board will eventually turn to one direction.

Cobe: Alright and the two most common mistakes when you’re trying to get up is standing up to quick and also trying to turn the board in one direction too fast, so you want to be real patient when you’re going through the motions.

Tarah: Once you’re out of the water there are a couple of other mistakes people make, one of them is letting their chest go really far forward and it kind of goes along with it is straightening your legs, so what we want to do when your riding is keep in mind that your chest should be up and we are going to try to push our hips towards the handle so that your inner leg gives position to be dragged through the water.

Cobe: So that’s all the movements to feel comfortable on the dock let’s take it to the water.

Tarah: Keep in mind when getting up on a wake board is to not fight the boat, we just want to be in the most efficient position possible, we will start with the board floating up here and then when the boat starts to pull on you, you compress and you actually bring your heals kind of down by your bum so that it slices through the water.

Hope that went well for you and check back with Monster Tower for more instructional videos and hey let us know if there are things that you want to learn on your wake board.
